"You're trouble, Colt," she murmured, but there was no fight left in her voice.
He reached up, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear, his calloused fingers lingering against her cheek. "Only for you, Savannah."
Her heart pounded against her ribs. She knew she should walk away, keep her distance before she got in too deep. But it was already too late. She had fallen years ago, back when they were just kids chasing fireflies and racing horses through the fields. The truth was, Colt had always been in her blood, in her bones.
And he always would be.
His thumb traced slow circles against her jaw, his gaze darkening. "Tell me I'm wastin' my time," he whispered, voice rough, raw. "Tell me you don't want this, and I'll walk away."
She swallowed hard.
There was no use denying it anymore.
"You know I can't."
That was all he needed. In a heartbeat, his hands were on her waist, pulling her against him, and then-his lips crashed into hers.
The kiss was fire and fury, years of unspoken emotions bursting into something reckless, something untamed. Colt kissed her like a man who had waited too damn long, like he would never get enough. And maybe he never would.
Savannah's fingers curled into his shirt, holding on as the world spun, as the night folded around them, as the wildfire they had spent years ignoring finally roared to life.
When they pulled apart, breathless, Colt's forehead rested against hers. "Darlin', I don't care if I burn for you," he murmured. "Just tell me you'll stay in the fire with me."
Savannah smiled, her heart racing, her soul finally at peace.
"Always."
And just like that, the wildfire consumed them both.
