Avira Rescue System is a free emergency antivirus rescue medium. Avira Rescue System can scan and clean an infected operating system without having to start the infected system. However, these programs are not started from the Avira software, but with just a few clicks via the Gnome desktop.

The ISO file with the Avira Rescue System is updated regularly so that the latest virus definitions are always available. Due to the possibility of updating the virus definition files in the live system, the rescue medium does not have to be constantly renewed.

Note: Avira Rescue System does not support multi-boot systems. According to the manufacturer, it is also not possible to repair boot sectors, partitions and encrypted files. Linux systems should be able to be scanned and disinfected, but not repaired. Avira recommends backing up important data to an external data medium before use.
