How does GMX-PhotoPainter work?
As with traditional painting, PhotoPainter paintings are composed of many overlapped brushstrokes. You have the creative freedom to choose and combine your own styles and settings, but at the same time guiding the painting process by automatically choosing the colors and directions of the brushstrokes.


User interface and supported file formats
Although it comes bundled with many dedicated parameters, the GUI does not look overcrowded at all. It actually sports a clean and intuitive layout that allows you to switch to a full screen mode, so you can focus better on the drawing process. It works with the following file formats: JPG, PNG, and BMP. Additionally, the tool lets you paste the image copied to the clipboard in the working environment.


Different drawing tools
GMX-PhotoPainter puts at your disposal four different painting tools, such as AutoPaint, Freehand painting, Pattern, and BandPaint. The first one is designed to help you automatically determine the brushstroke directions based on the characteristics of the picture, without having to move the mouse in a certain direction to pick the orientation of the brushstrokes.


The Freehand painting gives you the freedom to draw one stroke at a time following the path given by hand and is useful especially for drawing details, while the Pattern mode enables you to choose between different preset patterns or create a custom one. Last but not least, you can make use of the BandPaint option for making a group of brushstrokes following the path given by a free hand trace.


Other handy editing operations
When uploading a new image to the main panel, you can change the resolution and make the background transparent or choose the desired color.


Whats more, the tool lets you grab the desired color from a color picker, add or erase your own colors, and mix different color modes in the same project, namely Automatic (the color is sampled from the original image), Duotone (you can alter the background and foreground color), and Multicolors (you may choose up to 10 different colors). You are given the option to choose between various brush types, import your own brushes, change the texture of the brush, undo or redo your actions, as well as select from different painting styles, such as pen and ink, watercolor, oil, crayon, or pastel.


An overall efficient drawing program
All in all, GMX-PhotoPainter provides a powerful suite of features for helping you transform your photos into paintings. The drawing process is smooth and the output results are excellent.


Release Notes:
- Introduces a new feature which will let you to create sketches. You will find a new option under View.
- By clicking on: Vectorize Borders GMX-PhotoPainter will start to find the edges of original image, and highlight them in red.


Border Length and Precision
- Precision The more Precision you set, more borders it will find.
- Length The more Length you set, larger segment you will obtain.


You can experiment with different Border Length and Border Precision.
To apply the borders with the current settings you must press the button Stroke Paths under the Vector Painting panel.


In order to make visible the brushstrokes, it is always convenient to choose your own color and set the color mixer to a value less than 180, otherwise the brushstrokes would not be different from the rest of the painting.
