Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, collectively termed inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), are complex disorders because of their wide variations in clinical manifestations. These two disorders constitute multi-system diseases of idiopathic origin. Both are found world-wide and spare no socioeconomic group.
