What's new in KISSsoft Release 2025
Timken catalog and adjusted bearing life
For Timken rolling bearings, the user can calculate their life by connecting to Timken online services. Rating life not available directly in KISSsoft is then calculated by Timken and forwarded to the KISSsoft environment. These include basic rating, L10h, and adjusted L10a3h rating. The calculations are available in the shaft and in the bearing calculation module. A Timken account is needed, this account also allows for using internal geometry from Timken cloud services. Resulting bearing lifetimes are reported both in the results window and in the detailed bearing life report, parallel to basic, modified, reference, and modified reference ratings along ISO 281 and ISO/TS 16281.
Rollout - Root form diameter tolerance analysis
KISSsoft Rollout calculation and the corresponding graphics provide precise analysis and visualization of cylindrical gears geometry if pre- and final machining are combined. It is used to check tip and root form diameters including tolerance evaluation. Tolerances are defined by the user for both the workpiece tooth thickness as well as for the machining stock tolerances as per industry standards or own input, to match user exact requirements. With minimal, nominal, and maximal stock evaluation, the user can asses how cutter tolerances influence the tooth form after final machining. The software calculates key parameters like dFa, dFf, and maximum undercut to ensure proper meshing.
Graphics and tables dashboards
Graphics are essential for quickly understanding gear set, shaft, or bearing properties. They enhance interaction with customers, managers, and in engineering presentations. KISSsoft provides a wide range of graphics across all modules, customizable to user preferences. Dashboards in KISSsoft display multiple graphics in a structured layout, e.g. a pattern of 2 x 3 graphics. Each module includes a default arrangement, and users may create their own dashboards via a text file. Graphics are grouped by topics like ''Geometry'', ''Strength'', or ''Contact Analysis'' and displayed in an independent tab for instant feedback. This feature enhances efficiency and usability, aligning with today's multi-monitor workflows, making KISSsoft faster and more intuitive in intense use.
Hobbing - Process time, interference check, hob shifting
KISSsoft calculates cutting time and chip-to-chip time based on process parameters. For cost analysis, it requires inputs such as tool life (in meters) and tool costs including hob purchase, decoating, resharpening, and recoating. The resulting outputs provide a detailed cost breakdown for the process. Interference between tool and workpiece contours is evaluated through a graphical representation of the cutter path versus interfering contours. Chip thickness and feed marks are determined using axial and radial feed rates, cutting speed, and dwell rotations.
