As well as highlighting tribological developments at "the cutting edge" of tribology, the work includes tributes to recently departed eminent tribologists and prognoses on future directions in tribology. It also discusses significant scientific competitions, such as the "Contact Mechanics Challenge," as well as occasionally polemicizing. While each chapter stands alone and is eminently readable, the relevant literature is also included for those wanting to delve more deeply.
