The Crow Hill Company Cello Motors is a cinematic cello instrument built around gritty, propulsive, and rosin-rich rhythmic performances. It provides multi-sampled, looped cello phrases designed for adding rhythmic movement and layered texture to musical scores.
Three professional cellists recorded the material at Castlesound Studios with a dry, direct, and raw character. The instrument uses phrases of increasing complexity with dynamic crossfading around individual pitch centres, while keyswitches allow additional rhythmic combinations to be created during performance.
Software Overview
Cello Motors focuses on rhythmic cello phrases rather than conventional sustained instrument performance. Its tempo-synchronized Motors provide pre-recorded patterns that can be combined and shaped to create more complex rhythmic passages and polyrhythmic textures.
The library includes three stereo microphone signals with different diffusion levels, allowing the recorded material to be used with close, wide, or ambient perspectives. Master effects including EQ, delay, and reverb are also provided for further sound shaping.
